History and Who We Are…

The original village hall was opened in 1961 as the Kings Sutton Memorial Hall, but by the 1990s it was showing its age and plans were drawn up for a new hall. With the help of a Millennium Commission grant the new Millennium Memorial Hall was opened by Lord Heseltine CH, in 2001. The Hall is managed by a committee of Trustees some of whom are elected annually and some are nominated by a number of village organisations who are listed in our Trust Deed. The Hall was planned with medical services in mind and we currently have regular clinics run by the Brackley Health Centre.

The officers for 2020 are Bob Burrell (Chairman), Ann Morton (Hon Secretary) and Anne Martis (Hon Treasurer). Bookings and day-to-day matters are looked after by our Hall Manager, Lindsay Walker.

The committee plays a vital role in planning & developing the future of the building, from adding new storage rooms to installing air conditioning and solar panels. We are always looking for volunteers to bring fresh ideas to the table, so if you feel you could contribute to the running of the Hall please contact the Chairman for a chat.

Large Hall

The large hall is a bright and attractive space, which is used for a variety of purposes including Coffee Mornings, and many other activities such as Yoga. Short Mat Bowls and Karate. There is a Hearing Loop for those with limited hearing.

It is a popular choice as a wedding venue, or for special parties. For wedding receptions, banquets and seated meals the Large Hall will comfortably accommodate 120 guests. For lectures the maximum capacity is 200.

Small Hall

Small HallWith a maximum capacity of 80-90 in ‘theatre format’ the Small Hall is ideal for club and society meetings with a counter linking to the kitchen for refreshments.

It has a large dropdown screen for projecting films and for PowerPoint and slide shows.

Recent capacity events have included talks by John Mortimer, P.D. James and Sir Derek Jacobi during our Literary Festivals.

On a table layout it will happily accommodate fourteen tables for bridge, for instance.

The Small Hall works especially well for large events as a complement and backup/support area for events in the Main Hall.

The Astrop and Sutton Rooms

The Astrop and Sutton RoomsThere are two upstairs meeting and committee rooms which share a breakout room with its own kitchen facilities and comfortable chairs for that lunch or coffee break.

The Astrop Room is normally laid out for a committee, seminar or working group round a large table and seats 15 comfortably. There is a white board and a drop down projection screen.

The Sutton Room can be laid out ‘theatre style’ for 30 or so people for small to medium lectures or meetings.

Access to the first floor includes a stair-lift for persons with impaired mobility.
