A village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, King’s Sutton lies some four miles (6.4km) south-east of Banbury. The parish includes the hamlets of Astrop, Upper Astrop, Walton Grounds and Little Purston.
King’s Sutton is one of the larger villages of West Northamptonshire, situated at the far southwest tip of the county in the valley of the River Cherwell, which marks the county’s border with Oxfordshire. The village is roughly 10 minutes’ drive from junctions 10 and 11 of the M40 London-to-Birmingham motorway, which runs through the valley to the west, criss-crossing the mainline railway and the Oxford Canal.
Living in one of only two villages in Northamptonshire with a railway station, King’s Sutton residents can easily access services to Oxford, Birmingham, London and beyond. Although there are no longer any regular bus services linking the village to the nearby towns of Banbury and Brackley, Ability transport offer a bookable minibus service which provides a twice weekly service to Banbury (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and a weekly service to Brackley (Fridays). King’s Sutton residents benefit from a range of local shops and services including a post office, a primary academy, a pre-school, two churches and two public houses.
