Storm Goretti: Significantly reduced Chiltern Railways service on Friday 09 January

Dear Stakeholders,

Those travelling with us are advised that due to Storm Goretti, a significantly reduced service (50 per cent of normal timetable) will be in place on Friday 09 January 2026.

In addition, customers should check before they travel today (Thursday 08 January) as services may be subject to disruption due to the weather warnings from 5pm this evening. Late night services may be amended at short notice.

On Friday 09 January, one Chiltern Railways service per hour will operate in each direction between:

  • Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone
  • London Marylebone and Oxford
  • London Marylebone and High Wycombe
  • London Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham
  • Aylesbury and Princes Risborough

There will be no Chiltern Railways service north of Birmingham Moor Street or on the line to Stratford-upon-Avon. Hatton, Lapworth, Kings Sutton, Sudbury Hill Harrow, Sudbury & Harrow Road and South Ruislip will also not be served on Friday. Rail replacement buses will not be in operation.

Chiltern customers with tickets on Thursday evening or Friday can use their tickets earlier on Thursday or on Saturday 10 January instead.

Where customers no longer wish to travel, a refund can be requested from the original point of purchase.

Journey planners will be updated overnight to show the amended timetable. If you have any questions or concerns about our amended services, please do not hesitate to reach out.

All the best,

Harry Burr
