Sunday trains to Oxford

The Parish Council is pleased to note that there are currently a number of direct Sunday train services between King’s Sutton and Oxford. For local residents, this provides an excellent opportunity for a Sunday shopping trip to Oxford without the need to take the car. Oxford railway station is only about a ten-minute walk from the Westgate Shopping Centre.

The current direct Sunday services are:

King’s Sutton to Oxford

  • 10.35am (arriving 10.59am)
  • 3.05pm (arriving 3.31pm)
  • 6.05pm (arriving 6.31pm) – please note that there is no direct return service from Oxford to King’s Sutton after this train.

Oxford to King’s Sutton

  • 9.44am (arriving 10.08am)
  • 2.18pm (arriving 2.42pm)
  • 5.17pm (arriving 5.42pm)

After 6.00pm on Sundays, return journeys from Oxford to King’s Sutton are only possible by changing trains at Banbury.

It is hoped that a similar level of Sunday service will continue when the winter timetable comes into effect on 12 December. On that date, the Great Western Railway (GWR) franchise is due to end, with the operator being brought into public ownership. In due course, GWR will become part of Great British Railways (GBR), the new state-owned organisation that is intended to oversee the UK’s rail infrastructure and passenger services.
